I would argue it’s even better than the “real” one, and the “Big mac” sauce will BLOW YOU AWAY!
I included a veggie patty recipe, but you can absolutely use a pre-made veggie burger. The key here is to make the homemade vegan “Big mac” sauce. It’s JUST LIKE the real one, but homemade, so it’s healthier by default. Also, less cholesterol and fat if you are using a vegan mayonnaise since it will be egg-free.
I know the timing is odd for a big mac recipe! You know when you crave something for a long time, you just can’t get it out of your head? I had to get this “Big Mac” out of my head! Now that I have had that for supper the last 3 days for my recipe development, the obsession is gone! I can now move on to more “seasonal foods”!
Now, about the veggie patty recipe; you can use black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, what ever you have on hand. I personally prefer to use pinto beans, because of their milder taste. To get the McDonalds’ “patty look”, it’s better to go with the black beans, as I did in the pictures. But, I personally find that their taste is a bit too strong in a burger. I know black beans and veggie burgers are pretty much an item, but for some reason I can’t seem to enjoy a black bean burger. So go with what you prefer, or what you can find in the grocery store. The black beans are the ones that will make the burgers look like real patties the most, though.
I have decided to freeze the extra patties I made. I froze them individually on a plate, then vacuum sealed them, and stored them in the freezer. So now, I have homemade burgers, with the convenience of packaged food. I don’t know why I never thought of it before! A little money saving tip for you!
But again, you can very well use pre-made veggie patties for convenience! It’s a no judgement zone here!
Look at this beauty! Of course, with all good things, enjoy in moderation! I will sometimes serve my burgers with homemade buns, or serve with a side of vegetables. If I have “big mac” sauce, I will happily eat steamed brocoli on the side, with no complaints!
If you are wondering what to do with the left over sauce, it’s really good in sandwiches, on pizzas, as a dip for fries etc.
Bon appetit, enjoy!!!!
